Bank Holiday Weekend
Opening times
Saturday 10am to 5pm
Sunday 10am to 4pm
Monday 10am to 4pm
Well this is it!
One of the main events of the year and certainly not a weekend to miss.
Here at Richdon we are releasing one of the best collections of koi on view in the Uk
With not only the hundreds of new koi being on view for the first time in the fish house of all ages, but also the special tosai on view from Richdon koi Farm. Most koi are shown on our web sites, but we still have hundreds of smaller koi ranging from £15 so something for everyone.
Richdon Koi Farm ltd
This weekend, the koi being placed into our 50,000gallon indoor growing pond, will be only display in all their full glory. Some very special tosai on view here, so even if you are not buying, certainly worth taking a look to watch a koi’s development through the summer in our purpose built 50k growing pond.
These koi can be seen along with video’s at www.richdonkoifarm.com !
If tempted by any of these koi? Well this weekend is the ONLY time you can see them in a bowl close up. Come Tuesday they will all be placed into our 50k pond, sold or not. You can of course purchase them throughout the summer (with a growing on fee of £175) but they cannot be bowled for further inspection due to the impossibility of a single net catching a specific koi, have you seen the 50k pond yet?
We have special guests helping out and being on hand over the weekend, Paul Williams who many of you may know from his show winning attributes and his famous Richdon supplied Tancho Showa. Also Steve & Anthony Grey have offered to be at hand to answer any questions about young koi and their selection process’s when they select a potential baby champion or special young koi, (winners of last year’s BKKS national baby champion).
Of course our helpful staff will be at hand to guide, explain each koi you wish to look at, along with Richard, Mike, John, Eric, Donna & Paul.
We do however ask that only serious interested parties ask for these special koi to be bowled. They are very special koi which need as little handling as possible. If you do purchase a koi destined for the 50k pond then you will see her be placed into the pond, swim off and turn around and start eating with the rest in there. Certainly seeing 80 special tosai cruising around in such a large growing pond is something one only dreams of in this hobby, but now a reality!
You will then be automatically invited to come along to the Richdon Koi Farm Autumn Harvest, where we will sien net the pond and lift your koi from the water. The koi will then be place into a conditioning pond before transportation to your own pond.
It is our expectations for most tosai placed into the 50k pond to come out in the autumn over 50cm, so when you consider this the koi are very cheap compared to buying Nisai come the autumn.
It is VERY difficult to put into words the excitement of this weekend, so even if you have to travel several hundreds of miles as many do to visit Richdon, it will for sure be worth your while, and one of the closest experiences you will get to jumping on a plane and seeing koi at a breeders farm in Japan with such a range of koi on offer!
Japanese Maples
We have a wide range of Japanese maples on display and for sale, we request that you ask a member of staff to accompany you before entering this area.
Over wintered Koi Collections.
Those who still have koi with us from the winter, unless you have corresponded with us already we ask that no collections are made over the bank holiday weekend. If you intend to visit us in the next couple of weeks PLEASE email us before hand!
We need the space and intend to move a lot more koi down from the warm tunnels after the bank holiday weekend.
2008/2009 Grow & Show update.
Well if you entered this competition you are in for a treat, some of these koi are now touching 40cm, so come collection time early August they are going to be well over 45cm and all for £195, where else can you have Dianichi koi for such value and the chance to win a trip to Japan? Those who have entries are welcome to ask over the weekends to see their koi in the growing pond, the swear box is provided!
See you soon
The Richdon Koi Team.
